An Opal necklace with diamonds.

This central Opal reminded me of a sea-scape and couldn't resist buying it for that reason. it went well with the other Opal rondelle beads that I had and the whole project came together well.

An Opal necklace with Argentina-Rhodochrosite.

The central stone is a cabochon cut Argentina-Rhodochrosite. Its pale strawberry pink and cream colouring went well with the milky Opal rondelle beads .

A commissioned necklace with Opal beads and Red Sea motifs.

This client had a beautiful string of large graduated Opal beads which she wanted to use in a marine themed necklace. I used some of my Red Sea motifs with large spacers and the whole piece looked stunning.

This central Opal is a blue / green Australian Opal. It complemented the other Opal rondelle beads that I had and worked well with the little Citrine stone.

A Necklace of Ethiopian Opals with a pink Tourmaline centrepiece.

These unusual Opals are from Ethiopia with a striking green / orange colour and faceted to add additional sparkle.

A raised gold form surrounding the setting for the boulder Opal.

Boulder Opal is a layer of crystal Opal with some of the substrate stone left underneath or even allowed to break through the Opal material to add additional interest.

A 'Munich Muse' style necklace with a marquise shaped Andean Opal.

A raised gold form suspended below the the row of Pearls and the marquise cut Opal.

Andean Opal is from Peru and is quite different from Australian Opal. It is opaque and has an even blue colour. It is usually cut into cabochon form of varying shapes.

• Stone: Andean Opal from Peru; a marquise cut cabochon.
• Pectoral form raised in 18K yellow gold and made in two halves, reminiscent of a giant Egyptian beetle .
